Telephone contracts are the number one cause Berliners use to contact the Consumer Center. Blame is faulty invoices and problems with the supplier change. Internet shops do not ship or inferior goods.

Berliners most often turn to the Consumer Center for problems with telephone contracts. Often these are faulty invoices and problems with the change of supplier, said the head of law and advice, Petra Hegemann, the German Press Agency. "Normally, vendors could solve these problems quickly, but often they have too little staff in customer care."
Inferior goods and frivolous data deliveryThe Internet also provides work at the Consumer Center. "The old topics have remained and new ones have been added", Hegemann stated. One of the most common problems is Internet shops that do not send any or low-quality goods. In addition, consumers often lack the awareness of how sensitive their data is, so that they reveal it recklessly.

According to Hegemann, the consumer center is currently developing concepts on how to better advise citizens on digital topics and digital channels. The expert hopes to be able to extend the counseling services for people with a migration background. So far there is the service in German, Turkish and Polish.
