Mac Office 2011: Old, but popular.

Microsoft terminated the support for the penultimate version of its MacOS platform suite. In future, there will be updates and customer service for Office 2016 only.

Microsoft has made its announcement last summer and officially ended support for Mac-Office 2011 this week. If you use macOS 10.13 alias High Sierra, Apple's current version of the Mac operating system, Microsoft did not support it before – the company has not even tested Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 2011 under 10.13. Under macOS Sierra (10.12) and earlier ran the old version but still faultless and with full customer service.
No updates and no customer service anymore
With the end of the support there will be no more updates – this also applies to the important security fixes. Correspondingly, users who use Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Co. in the Mac variant 2011 are now operating at their own risk – malware attacks on unpatched gaps in the Büropaket.t are threatening future malware attacks
Mac Office 2011, officially called Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, had appeared for the first time on October 26, 2010, almost seven years ago. Included in the package were Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as the Outlook email and calendar app. In addition, Microsoft also offered the Communicator and Lync communications applications as well as the Remote Desktop Connection software as part of Mac-Office 2011.
Users do not like the new interface
The only supported version of Office will now be Mac-Office 2016, which is also available in a 64-bit version as it prefers Apple in High Sierra. The package is unpopular with some users because of the changed – very Windows-like – interface – so they stayed with Mac-Office 2011 so far. In addition, Microsoft sometimes tended to fix bugs that were often reported. With the focus on only one main Mac version, this is now hopefully changing.
Mac-Office 2016 initially caused problems under High Sierra. During the beta process, not all Office functions were available. In the meantime, however, the package should be fully operational.
[Update 12.10.17 20:57 Uhr:] running capability of Office 2011 under macOS High Sierra. The package can be started, but was never officially supported by Microsoft on this operating system.
