SUSE relies on Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes

Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 | bitcoin updates

With the new Cloud Application Platform SUSE wants to accelerate DevOps and the IT transformation. To do this, the Linux distributor combines a containerized version of Cloud Foundry with the management capabilities of Kubernetes.

With a container as a service platform for developers, SUSE has deployed a new infrastructure during the year that combines its on-premises Linux MicroOS, Docker container, Kubernetes, and Salt to simplify application delivery. Now SUSE goes one step further with the Cloud Application Platform. Based on SUSE Linux Enterprise, the new enterprise development and operations platform platform is designed to facilitate container-based application delivery, as the company announced in the wake of HPE's cloud foundry acquisition late last year.
The SUSE Cloud Application Platform combines a containerized version of Cloud Foundry with the Kubernetes distribution and management tool. From the combination of these technologies SUSE expects above all more speed and a higher scalability. Compared to other cloud foundry implementations, this containerized version also has a much lower storage footprint. As a result, enterprises will benefit from shorter IT response times by making it easier to integrate DevOps processes through various application delivery models. The SUSE Cloud Application Platform is available now – but initially only for selected customers.
