Croatia has started with a prestigious success in the European Handball Championship. In the heated duel with Serbia's neighbors, the Croatians clearly prevailed on Friday evening in Split with 32:22 (14: 9). Luka Stepancic and Manuel Strlek each scored six and thus the most hits for the Croats, who have set the title in their own country. Best launcher of the team to captain Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen was Olafur Andres Gudmundsson with seven goals. The Flensburg hit Jim Gottfridsson six times in Sweden. In the preparation for the European Championship, the Icelanders had lost both matches against the DHB selection. In parallel, Austria botched his start to the tournament.
