Oculus increases in VR price competition: Oculus Rift permanently for 450 euros

Wednesday, October 11th, 2017 | bitcoin updates

Nate Mitchell from Oculus showed on the OC4 that one can program with the Core 2.0 software also within the virtual reality.
The virtual reality headset Oculus Rift costs immediately 450 euros. In addition, Oculus is completely redirecting the user guidance: With the Core 2.0 update, users can build their own VR environment together.

With a permanent price reduction of 300 US dollars (in Germany presumably 450 euros), Oculus apparently reacts to the coming mixed reality competition: The competitor headsets of Acer and Lenovo also cost 450 euros.
In other respects, Oculus also seems to be inspired by the mixed-reality competitors. As with the MR platform developed by Microsoft, Oculus will also allow the free placement of Windows windows in the future.

As part of the "Core 2.0" update, there is also a completely overhauled user interface, which is completely tailored to the touch-screen hand-held controller, which has been traced freely in the room – the current concept has been developed for conventional controllers. A so-called "Dash" menu is to be called at any time and can be operated with natural hand movements.

A new "Home" main menu is a virtual space that users can design themselves – with various furniture, posters and other decorative objects. You can start games by request by placing them as modules in a virtual game console. The new menu has been developed with the Unreal Engine 4 and new: game achievements as well as the possibility to visit the home environments of other users.
Oculus plans to publish a freely available beta version of the Core 2.0 update in December.
