After just nine days, Apple has pushed a bugfix update for iOS 11.1. It promises fixes for auto correction and "Hey Siri".
iOS 11.1.1 is available for iPhone and iPad for download. The update, which was released Thursday night, is intended to eliminate two bugs, nine days after the release of iOS 11.1, including a problem with Apple's "automatic correction of keyboard input."
This refers to a bug, through which the iOS keyboard changed a typed "i" without being asked, for example in apps like iMessage or Twitter. While the broadcaster usually did not notice, the receiver saw an "A" with an attached symbol – or other characters in combination with a question mark in a square.
Autocorrection bug caused strange text messages and tweets

Messages from iPhone users may suddenly contain inappropriate letters – and a question mark in a square.

Obviously, iOS AutoCorrect appended an invisible Unicode control character in these cases, intended to actually render the previous character emoji. Since there is no emoji counterpart to the "i", it probably came to the faulty display with the question mark symbol. The error apparently spread from device to device. Details on cause and distribution Apple has not yet called.
iOS 11.1.1 is supposed to make "Hey Siri" reliable again
iOS 11.1.1 should also ensure that the activation of the voice assistant Siri on call ("Hey Siri") again reliable funkioniert. Previously, the voice command could suddenly no longer be perceived by the device.
The update is available through the integrated software update or iTunes for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Depending on the model, the download size varies; on an iPhone X, for example, it is 54 MB. To possibly also eliminated vulnerabilities are so far no information from Apple.
It is the fifth update for iOS 11 so far. Meanwhile, the beta phase for iOS 11.2 is already running, which should be able to provide missing features like AirPlay 2.
So far iOS 11, unlike the two previous versions, installed rather hesitant. According to Apple, only a good half of the active devices have switched to the new version of the operating system.
