GitLab 10.2 brings configurable Issue Boards

In addition, version management now makes it possible to create read-only copies of repositories to speed international access, and the team has improved its integration with Kubernetes.

The creators of GitLab have released version 10.2 of the essentially open source GitHub alternative. The new features are designed to give developers a better overview of project issues, accelerate global collaboration, and improve the management of Kubernetes clusters. Most of the changes relate to the commercial versions GitLab Enterprise Starter (EES) and Premium (EEP).
The versioning tool now allows you to customize issue boards that provide an overview of the entire team. So far, only one milestone could be assigned to an issue board. With version 10.2, customers of the EES and EEP variants can now additionally define the associated labels, a weighting, responsible persons and other individual settings. Since the configuration is part of the board, it applies equally to all employees involved.

Closer to the developer team, GitLab Geo, should provide global teams with greater availability. The feature reserved for EEP customers creates secondary instances that provide read-only access. It allows companies to create distributed replicas that give employees access to git, large file storage (LFS) objects, issues, wikis, and continuous integration artifacts. A geo-monitoring API is used to query the status of distributed instances. Postgres High Availability is also available only in the EEP variant. It helps with omnibus-based installation and management of PostgreSQL clusters where the failover process is automated.
After the previous version simplified the setup of Kubernetes clusters, GitLab 10.2 brings advanced features to set up the additional services in conjunction with the Google Container Engine (GKE). Users of all GitLab variants can now install the package manager Helm Tiller and the administration service Nginx Ingress with one click.
The full list of new features can be found on the GitLab blog. GitLab's Community Edition is free, Enterprise Edition Starter costs $ 40 per user per year, and Enterprise Edition Premium costs $ 200 per user per year.
