Several readers reported heise Security independently that the WannaCry virus had broken out at Daimler AG and would affect the ongoing production. Festo is also currently fighting with the pest, but has denied it.

The crypto-Trojan WannaCry currently rages apparently at the German automobile group Daimler, as several readers have reported to us independently. According to this, the pest in Mercedes-Benz plants like Bremen, Hamburg and Untertürkheim should have broken out and made sure that industrial robots controlled by Windows XP put their work down.
The worm was supposedly propagated from infected Windows 7 systems to the robot controls. According to a reader, the incident started around 5pm on Thursday. Daimler would not be the first automobile group to hit WannaCry: Nissan and Renault were stuck in May after the crypto trojan had broken out.
In addition, the Festo group is also currently struggling with the encryption trojan. heise Security has asked Daimler and Festo to submit their comments on Friday morning, but have not received any responses yet.
[Update 29.09.2017 – 15:10 Uhr] Meanwhile, a spokeswoman from Festo told heise online that there is currently no such attack. The message has been adjusted accordingly.
[Update 29.09.2017 – 17:00 Uhr] A Daimler spokeswoman explained: "Our production is running". However, the company did not want to comment on the WannaCry outbreak.
