AV Software: Malwarebytes Fixes Malformed Updates

Tuesday, January 30th, 2018 | bitcoin updates

The developers of Malwarebytes anti-malware software made some mistakes while updating some versions, causing performance problems on the target computers. Now they have improved again.

A bug fix for multiple versions of Malwarebytes anti-malware software has resulted in a significant increase in RAM usage and fake blockade of large numbers of IP addresses on affected user machines. This is evident from an error analysis published by the manufacturer.
Affected are accordingly the products Malwarebytes Premium for Windows (including the trial version) as well as the endpoint solutions Malwarebytes Endpoint Security (MBES) and Endpoint Protection (Cloud Console). On the morning of January 27, they received the incorrect update versions 1.0.3798 and 2018.01.27.03 (MBES). After some customers pointed out the resulting problems, the development team began troubleshooting.
Assistance for those affected After about three hours and the release of several intermediate versions, the repair succeeded. The current versions 2018.01.27.12 for MBES and 1.0.3803 for the remaining products eliminate the problems caused by a syntax error in the blacklist of the Web Protection feature.
In the event that updating using the integrated update feature does not work, Malwarebyte has provided detailed, step-by-step instructions for home and business users.
