100 years Nikon: winner of the competition "I am 100" and photo exhibition "Leben 24/7"

             As one of the highlights of the anniversary celebrations of Nikon, the exhibition "leben 24/7 – 100 Jahre Nikon" was opened in the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf. In addition, the manufacturer presented the winners of the photo competition "I am 100".


        The photo exhibition "leben 24/7 – 100 Jahre Nikon" was opened on Wednesday evening at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf as part of a jubilee celebration. It shows current and historical works by renowned Nikon photographers. Among them also series of well-known German as the Sternfotografen Volker Hinz and Harald Schmitt. In a talk round, Hinz and Nikon specialist Peter Brazko talked about your life as a photographer.

In the exhibition are also legendary images like the Afghan girl with the green eyes photographed by Steve McCurry in 1984 or the "Tank Man" by Charlie Cole from the year 1989. The recording shows a man who is on June 5 1989 during the massacre at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing with shopping bags in the hand in front of a tank convoy to stop this. Also legendary is Jodi Bieber's startling photo from 2010, which is shown by the 18-year-old Bibi Aisha. The young woman from Kabul fled from her husband, who had abused her. For this, she was condemned by a Taliban court. The punishment: Her face was mutilated by her husband.
In addition to the photos, the exhibition features various Nikon camera and lens exhibits from the beginnings of camera development to today, as well as a light sculpture by Fabian Oefner, which visualizes the light path in a lens.

The winners of the "I am 100 Fotowettbewerb" The award ceremony for the "I am 100" photo competition took place during the opening ceremony. The winners were selected from ten categories as well as the total winner – the photographer Else Krammel. She is looking forward to a trip to Japan worth 10,000 euros. The winning photo shows an exciting combination of architecture, man and nature. A total of 22,000 photos were submitted to the contest. The 100 best pictures of the competition are also to be seen in the exhibition in the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, which will run until 5 November.
